150 piece of pine rosin and beeswax cast with 3D printed charts, 2022

In my latest project I investigated the relationship between „master and disciple”, this work focuses on historical changes and a data visualization of the number of students and teachers at the HUFA. In the research for this project I collected headcounts from academic years 1871/72 to 2020/21, then compared the resulting statistical data with changes in institutional history, global demographic shifts and political influences. The work aims to explore and understand the transformation of the roles on each side — teachers and students — in the light of the impacts mentioned above. The final data visualization is a play with the ratio of these groups projected onto each other. The 3D printed infographics — cast in a mixture of pine rosin and beeswax — consist of two grid lattices of 900 rectangles each, the headcounts of students are located on the left side, and those of the teachers on the right. The counts are not separated from each other, except optically, as the ratio starts to shift they create a wall between each other in an organic way.
